The 4th of July is by far the BIGGEST day of the year in Silverton, Co. We can’t wait! In just two weeks from now we’ll host upwards of 20,000 people in our small town of 600. This is a massive influx of people and Silverton has been doing it right for decades now.
FUN RUN 6AM
The day will start at Memorial park with a Fun Run. Registration for the 2k, 5k, and 10k runs will start at 6am and the run will begin at 7:30. The Silverton Youth Center will benefit from the $25 race registration fee (plus you get a free t-shirt.)
And for the rest of us, the parade will begin on Main Street at 10:30 am and usually lasts a couple hours. The famous water fights will be in full force as this years theme, Honoring our Heroes, will have everyone dressed in red, white, and blue.
MEMORIAL PARK- RHUBARB FESTIVAL 12:30 – 5PM
And while this is all going on, the Rhubarb festival in Memorial Park will be gearing up to serve pie to the masses as the Silverton Brass Band plays for our enjoyment. In addition, the Silverton Youth Center will be selling BBQ hot dogs, chips and sodas to help raise money.
DUCK RACES 2PM
At 2pm the always exciting Duck Races begin. The Visitors Center will be selling off hundreds of little rubber duckies which will all race down the river to the finish line a few hundred yards away. If your duck wins you get amazing prizes!
FIREWORKS AFTER SUNSET
And to top it all off…. FIREWORKS!!!! Silverton is famous for its amazing fireworks shows, only this year the show will move from the Shrine to the Hilltop Cemetery. This will change things up a bit so if you’ve been here before and have a favorite vantage point you usually try to get to then you should probably keep that in mind. On the up-side, we’ll be able to look down main street to view the show and will have much bigger mountains as the backdrop. Should make for some great photo ops.
We hope everyone has a great time while they’re here. If you bring an OHV then make sure you are aware of the
Silverton OHV Routes. The Sheriff’s Department STRICTLY enforces these rules and will not be happy if they’re forced to spend most their day doing so.
Have a great time this 4th of July while visiting Silverton, Colorado.
